Three Chords and the Truth in Leiper’s Fork, Tennessee

Leipers ForkJanuary 16 – Three Chords and the Truth is an inside joke in Country Music Capital Nashville, Tennessee.

Today we took our time getting up and around, then our friends mentioned the little town of Leiper’s Fork and we are game for all new experiences, so we bundled up and took off.
I drove and, fair warning, the roads on the way are winding, tight with lots of corners, yet very beautiful with gorgeous homes, fields and forest areas.

Leiper’s Fork is situated just south of the Nashville suburbs and is beyond charming and unique. I loved how in front of each store there are fire pits for warming up and large jars of marshmallows for roasting.
Our first stop was Puckett’s Grocery & Restaurant, with live “home down pickin” music on Saturday afternoons and a fantastic array of homemade food for lunch. I had the vegetable plate with fried okra, baked beans, mashed potatoes, corn cake and the best blackberry cobbler known to man. (or woman) Needless to say, there was nothing left. Car Traveling in WinterTime

on the way to NashvilleJanuary 15 – Car Traveling in wintertime, even more than during the summer months, requires being aware of the weather forecast, the cities you pass and the hours you do so. Evening or morning traffic hour in a city like Atlanta is murderous.

Slept pretty good last night. Got up to it pouring rain however, so we took our time having breakfast and headed out about 10:45.
It is so decadent to not be rushed anymore. No more rat race. Is it weird? Yes! Is it awesome? Hell, YES!

Choosing to be a vagabond is a definite life changing experience that fills the mind with Wide Open Spaces.

We were Innkeepers for four years (very tiring) and decided we needed to LIVE life a bit and have freedom to roam. At the time we decided this, we lived in a six bedroom, four bath home on the beach of Amelia Island, filled to the brim with furniture, knick-knacks and love.
We pared down slowly getting ready for our transition. One estate sale prepared by professionals, while we spent a couple of days away, to help with the stress of purging our material items.

Sold some items on Craigslist (don’t be so scared, we had positive results) and eBay. Continue reading
