The Day of Boots Versus Slippers, Fire Alarms, Hamburgers, Grandchildren and Heartache

TJ and LenaWe checked into the Weathervane Inn yesterday, to have a couple of nights sleep on an actual bed instead of air mattresses, to ready us for another drive across this vast country. It was a beautiful comfortable room with a fireplace and jacuzzi.
This morning we woke up to a fairly decent continental breakfast and lots of coffee.
The sun was shining so we decided we would walk across the bridge into Whitehall (the bridge that separates Whitehall and Montague) and check out some of the cute little shops. Also took some beautiful photos, saw a pair of swans on the lake and showed Han the sledding hill.

A Great Mattress is Magical

Weather VaneWoke up to a flurry of activity. The grand kids are such a joy, even when fighting over the TV. : )
Greg, David and Liam went to Grand Rapids for a gun show.
Jeabet, Lena and Aria also went to Grand Rapids to pick up Phil at the airport.(Jeabet’s dad) He and Greg are driving out with the kids to Washington State, so they can take turns driving and it really makes me feel better to know they have extra support as they travel in these wintery conditions.
We are re-packing “again” and heading over to the Weathervane Inn in neighboring Montague for three nights.
We really need to sleep in a regular bed, since we have been sleeping on air mattresses for the past 10 days, and some extra relaxation before hitting the road will immensely help or attention on the road and our moods.

A Wintery Wonderland Wedding

The Happy CoupleA Michigan Wedding on January 30 is almost guaranteed to be white and on White Lake with dotted fishing tents in the background, it’s a wintery wonderland wedding.

Here’s Wishing Ethan and Lisa a Lifetime of Adventures and Beautiful Memories.

Last time I slept until nearly 11:00am? Maybe my teenage years? Am I turning into Mork? Oh, how awesome that would be! Yes, I rolled out of bed super late.

Today was a flurry of activity in the house with everyone getting ready for Ethan and Lisa’s wedding. (Ethan is my son-in-laws brother). Having only two bathrooms made preparations tricky, but we were all ready with time to spare. It was fairly warm today at 40 degrees. Really did not even need a jacket. Snow is melting but not getting too excited, since there is a snow storm approaching on the horizon.

Cabin Fever…The Struggle is Real

Book DeocrationsWe’re finding that the cabin fever in cold winter times is a real struggle. Even if the house is pretty sizable, put 5 adults and three little people in it and it becomes tight, stuffy quarters.

Got up this morning dazed completely out, due to the heater making the most awful loud banging noises beginning at 2:22am and would not stop. Woke Greg up (owner of home) and he turned it off until someone could check it out this morning. Was very difficult to get back to sleep. Have been a little off all day, even after two cups of coffee. Continue reading

Have Sled, Will Travel……..FAST!

Had a wonderful time with our friend, Kim, last night. We laughed at ourselves and the children until our sides were sore. The game of hide & seek was a huge hit.
Being that it is very cold and snowy with three young children stuck inside, you have to be prepared to include some fun inside activities.

Below is the very funny email I received from Kim today. I am very grateful she made it safely home. She was born and raised in Michigan and is very familiar with the weather conditions, but as you can read, sometimes even people who are aware need to be prepared and careful when traveling out into snow storms.
