Had a wonderful time with our friend, Kim, last night. We laughed at ourselves and the children until our sides were sore. The game of hide & seek was a huge hit.
Being that it is very cold and snowy with three young children stuck inside, you have to be prepared to include some fun inside activities.
Below is the very funny email I received from Kim today. I am very grateful she made it safely home. She was born and raised in Michigan and is very familiar with the weather conditions, but as you can read, sometimes even people who are aware need to be prepared and careful when traveling out into snow storms.
Ok, so get this! My stubborn ass had to leave because of Phoebe (little dog) right, and my anxiety away from her.. ” oh the snow looks fine I’m good ” YEA.. This is why I got home so late.. So I get to the HWY, yep, roads suck. Let’s go a little further, a little more, it has to be clear up ahead right?! It didn’t call for snow!! Nope!!! Now I’m balls deep into the drive on the HWY and can no longer see where my freaken lane is! &&& of course I’m in the lead of like 5 cars ( going 40 mph on the HWY lol) riding my ass but they can’t pass me, because I’m pretty sure I was in the middle of both lanes!!! Fuck this, I get off the next exit I see! Bye Felicia’s, I’m outta here! Ok, now.. Where the F am I hmmm! Roads are completely covered, my Gps decided to stop working, ARGGGH…OK I guess I will lick my damn finger and stick it in the cold air at this point!! I go with my gut and just drive! Find interstate 31 signs, and follow them… To a town that I proceed to get stuck down two side roads lol, my car won’t make it up the worlds smallest of hills!!! BALL SACK are you kidding me!!! Reverse down the hills, do a couple loop’da’loos and make it back to the main road, lick my finger again, ok let’s try this way!! Needless to say I went on a fun goose Chase in the snow last night in the middle of who knows where! BUT I made it lmao!! Only me man I’m telling you!! So yea that happened!
Around noon my daughter and I went to Muskegon today for some shopping and lunch together.
One item to purchase was another wallet for Han. (however, not a Coach this time)
So far while traveling I have been asked many times where home is, or a cashier asking my zip code during a purchase or when are we going “home?”
So far I have not figured out a “signature saying” to explain our recent change of life style.
I think next time I will say, “we live in the “here and now”, coming and going as we please, the world is our home.” Saying I don’t have a physical home seems to make others feel awkward.
Honestly I am not that overly concerned with what others think of our present lifestyle, but it is interesting to think and/or laugh about.
I admit, sometimes I enjoy the shock value too much.
Went sledding this afternoon in Whitehall MI. What a wonderful time! The crew consisted of five adults and six kids, but for about two hours we were all children, as we took to flying ourselves down the hill. There I was 56 years old, yet feeling 15, as I zoomed fast that ended in a spread eagle crash that caused more laughter. Climbed the stairs about four times to have my turn again. My four year old grandson was a champ and wanted to ride by himself most the time.
As it turned dark, we loaded up and headed home to enjoy dry clothes with hot chocolate for the kids and something a little stronger for the adults.
After a dinner of burritos and tacos, the musicians in the family (there are many) headed downstairs to crank up the Amps and music put the structural essence of the house under pressure as they practiced.
