The title says it all. We needed a day just to catch up on writing, wash some clothes, play with and learn more about our new toys of the Go-Pro and iPad and simply relax in between.
It was most enjoyable because I personally love reorganizing based on recent travel experiences and it was much needed.
We went out to grab some dinner and get a better feel for Flagstaff, so we took a quick drive through the historic district. It appears to be a fun place to shop, eat and drink. Probably “the” place to hang out during the warmer months. I didn’t want you to think that the city is no fun, it’s just located too high up in thin air for us to enjoy it.
The delicious dinner was at Wildflower Bread Company, which is a better, upscale version of Panera Bread but so far the 14 restaurants in the franchise are only located in Arizona. I hope they expand in the near future, that’s how good the food was..
Next stop on our journey is Sedona and the former mining ghost town Jerome. Literally super excited to be going down in elevation.
LODGING CHOICE: We are on our third night at the Rodeway Inn & Suites on Butler Ave. Flagstaff AZ
The price was very reasonable for three nights at 180.00 total which included all taxes, close to the highway and many restaurant choices within walking distance.
Breakfast offerings are very basic and starchy. We chose to eat breakfast out at their sister restaurant next door. Very good, plentiful and tasty.
Hardworking staff, very friendly and helpful. Hotel could use some updating but for the price, was well worth it. The rooms looked and felt clean. There were no odors either and I am very picky about that.
Rooms and bathrooms are fairly large with plenty of space to store your belongings.
Ask for a room on the second floor as it cuts down on noise, but be mindful that there are only stairs and we had some problems adjusting to the altitude.
I think I might be a hotel snob and normally would not have chosen this place by the looks alone, but I would certainly stay here again.
Some reviews complained about the beds, but I have slept here better than any other since being on the road.
My only real complaint is not having individual AC controls in room. It is set on heat or nothing at all, but at least the doors and windows open to let fresh mountain air in.
The internet was very stable and fairly quick. One of our must haves.
