A Short Week Near Baton Rouge

Three horses

Monday: 02/15/16

Monday was so stormy. Phone alerts were going off, thunder and lightening, tornado watches and nervous dogs topped the chaos.

Yes, you may add me to the nervous bunch of animals. It did not let up for quite some time. Tripp and I bonded over today’s storm, since we were reliant on each other company while cowering.

The front and back yard is now a lake. Maranda came home from her job at a local electrical service company and cooked up shrimp chowder with garlic bread. My daughter is one excellent cook.

Tuesday: 02/16/16

Han and I went with Maranda to pick up her horse trailer and to see some of the countryside. Also to get out of the house for a bit. I noticed that what we consider substantial stretches like 20-25 miles to get somewhere, is daily routine to my daughter. We had re-scheduled Valentine Day’s dinner out for Monday but because of the weather, we postponed until Tuesday. Of course Han and I did not realize that it would be a 45 minute drive each way.

So that evening we all went to PF Chang’s, except for Steve because unfortunately he had to work late. It was a nice relaxing evening and I made sure that everyone was having major belly laughs on the way home because I enjoy being dorky.

Wednesday 02/17/16

Maranda and I went shopping for clothes and ammo, then met with some of her girlfriends at the shooting range to practice. I basically went along for the ride and to watch them from the window because I do not enjoy indoor gun ranges due to the sometimes incessant ringing in my ears. Besides all the hot spent shells are flying all over the place and it is too chaotic for me.

I found it most unusual that people were just walking around with their guns in their hands. No gun permit was asked for, just your drivers license is required in LA it seems. It made me a little apprehensive with no apparent rules in place.

Afterwards we grabbed some dinner and headed home. We all made it an early night since everyone was tired.
