Traveling in Winter Time

on the way to NashvilleJanuary 15 – Traveling in wintertime, even more than during the summer months, requires being aware of the weather forecast, the cities you pass and the hours you do so. Evening or morning traffic hour in a city like Atlanta is murderous.

Slept pretty good last night. Got up to it pouring rain however, so we took our time having breakfast and headed out about 10:45.
It is so decadent to not be rushed anymore. No more rat race. Is it weird? Yes! Is it awesome? Hell, YES!

Nashville here we come…
Passing through North Georgia’s hill country is at best boring, but we needed to make Brentwood, the southern city suburb of Nashville by nightfall, preferably before Friday afternoon traffic hour set in. We always plan food rations and fuel in one stop. So when we needed to fuel up and figured we would have lunch too. We ate at a buffet restaurant called “Western Sizzlin”. ALERT: If you are ever traveling west on I-64 going towards Jasper, stop for lunch there, it truly is delicious and the best buffet we have eaten at ever. We normally avoid buffets, but very glad we stopped in. $20 for the two of us including drinks!
The address is: 1130 TN-28, Jasper TN
Arrived in Nashville to visit our dear friends, Ric and Kay, who we had not seen since they moved away from Florida a year ago.
The traffic patterns and drivers in this city are sketchy at best. A slightly more aggressive driving style is in order when visiting Nashville and its suburbs.
After unloading the car we relaxed over dinner and drinks in front of a wonderful fireplace to keep us toasty. It was nice to know we would be settling in for a bit and look forward to some excursions in the area.
“Worst part about traveling for long periods of times by vehicle?”
Not being able to find a particular item because there is no permanent place to store it.
I feel like a dog digging for a lost bone most of the time.
Hell, and it’s just the beginning too. Yikes. LOL”1:15 Marietta>Brentwood
